Create and Manage Rations

Create rations on your own or with the help of your nutritionist by utilizing the Ration tab within Performance Beef. Read the following steps to easily create a ration.

To create a new ration:

1. Click on the Overview tab on the left side of your Performance Beef account.
2. Click the Rations tab on the left side of the screen.
3. Click the green Add Ration button on the right side of the screen.
4. Enter the ration name in the white box titled Enter Ration Name.
5. Click the green Add Feed button in the center of the page. This can be clicked for each ingredient you want to enter into the ration.
6. Click the Select Feed drop-down box on the left side of the screen and select the feed item for each row. Do this for each ingredient in your ration.

  7.    Click the white box showing 0.00. This is the Percent As Fed amount for each ingredient               within the ration.

  8.    When the Percent As Fed box at the top right corner of the screen shows 100.00%, click               the green Save button.

Rations can be entered on a percent as fed basis or by percent dry matter. Performance Beef will default ingredient percentages to As Fed. To switch your ration to dry matter percentages, click the gray % As Fed box in the upper left corner. 

You can also add medications and supplements on top of existing rations. When entering medications or supplements into the ration on a pounds per head basis, these items do not factor into the ration percentage. This allows you to keep existing ration ingredient proportions the same. Performance Beef will calculate the amount of this ingredient based on the pen head count reflected on the Overview tab.

To manage rations: 

1. Click on the Overview tab on the left side of your Performance Beef account.
2. Click the Rations tab on the left side of the screen.
3. Click the red Manage Rations button on the upper right corner.
   1. To archive a ration, click the - on the far right of the ration. The ration will drop to the Archived section. 
   2. To unarchive a ration, click the + on the far right of the ration. The ration will move to the Active section. 
   3. Click and drag the three dots on the left of active rations to reorder them. The order they appear here is the order they appear when assigning rations in the Overview tab. 
4. Click the green Save button on the upper left corner.

Managing your rations allows you to easily organize active rations and make them accessible in your Overview tab as well as archiving rations not in use for a later date. When rations are archived, they are hidden from your Ration tab, however any feed data associated with them still exists and the ration can be unarchived at any time. You may only archive rations not currently in use and rations must be active to assign them in the Overview tab.
