How-To: Add and Manage Inventory in Performance Beef (Step-by-Step Guide)

Build upon your Performance Beef foundation by easily adding and managing feed ingredients. Feed ingredient information allows you to create rations to then set feed calls. 

To add a feed ingredient:
  1. Click on the Inventory tab on the left side of Performance Beef.
  2. Click the Add button on the upper right corner.
  3. Enter the following information:
    1. Name of Ingredient, Cost per Unit (Ton), Percent Dry Matter
    2. Amount Remaining and Inventory Alert are optional fields 
      1. The Amount Remaining entered in the Add Feed screen will be displayed as the ingredient's first Current Total amount. The total amount of each ingredient delivered will subtract from the Current Total on a daily basis.
      2. An Inventory Alert can be entered for when that minimum weight is reached and account owner will receive an emailed alert. . 
  4. Click the Save button on the upper right corner of the screen. 

 

 Edit Ingredient Inventory 

  1. Click the Inventory tab on the left side of the screen within your Performance Beef account.
  2. Click on the ingredient name you wish to alter
    1. Add to your inventory (add an amount on top of the current total amount):
      1. Click the Select Action drop-down box on the pop-up window.
      2. Click Add.
    2. Adjust your inventory (replace the current total amount):
      1. Click the Select Action drop-down box on the pop-up window.
      2. Click Adjust.
    3. Backdate your inventory (update cost, NEm, NEg and Dry Matter) 
      1. Click the Batch Backdate button. 
      2. To edit, click the small white checkbox to the right of the value. 
  3. Enter the date of the change in the white box to the right of the Date box.
  4. Enter the new amount being added to or adjusting the inventory in the white box to the right of the Amount box.
  5. Click the Save button within the pop-up window.

Note: Making an adjustment will automatically calculate a shrink percentage based on the previous adjustment. Click here to learn more about the calculation and an example.

8.   Click the Save button on the ingredient page.

To manage feed ingredients: 

  1. Click on the Inventory tab on the left side of Performance Beef.
  2. Click the red Manage button on the upper right corner. To manage other inventory, select Other from the dropdown menu on the upper left corner then click the red Manage button on the upper right corner. 
    1. To archive an inventory item, click the - on the far right of the item. The item will drop to the Archived section. 
    2. To unarchive an inventory item, click the + on the far right of the item. The item will move to the Active section. 
    3. Click and drag the three dots on the left of active items to reorder them. The order they appear here is the order they appear when building rations or animal health protocols for use with the new health features expected this fall. 
  3. Click the Save button on the upper right corner of the screen.

 

Managing your feed ingredients allows you to easily organize active ingredients as well as archiving other ingredients not in use for a later date. When ingredients are archived, they are hidden from your Inventory tab, however any data associated with them still exists and the ingredient can be unarchived at any time. You may only archive ingredients not currently in use and ingredients must be active to use them in a ration.

Other Inventory Items 

  1. Click the Inventory tab on the left side of the screen within your Performance Beef account.
  2. Click the Feed drop-down box on the upper left corner of the screen and select Other.
  3. Click the Add button on the right side of the screen.
  4. Click on the Select Category drop-down box and select the correct category:
    1. Vet, Medication, Implant, Delivery, Processing, Bedding, Hedges, Interest, Insurance, Profit Share, Sales Tax/GST or other.
      1. For Animal Health purposes, be diligent in selecting the correct category for other inventory items. For example, implants must be entered under the Implant category in order for them to be accounted for in “Days on Last Implant” in the Animal Health portal. 
    5.  Enter in the following information:
    1. Name of item, cost per unit, and unit
      1. Units for Other Inventory are lbs, mLs, cc, ton and unit unlike Feed Inventory that only has the ton option
    2. Withdrawal time in days, post-treatment interval in days, amount remaining and inventory alert are optional fields

6. Click the Save button on the upper right corner of the screen.

7.  Managing Other Inventory Items is an identical process to adding Feed Inventory.

Note: When adding your other inventory item, be sure to select the unit that best fits the dosage value.
