How-To: Add and Manage Inventory in Performance Beef (Step-by-Step Guide)
Build upon your Performance Beef foundation by easily adding and managing feed ingredients. Feed ingredient information allows you to create rations and set feed calls. Read the steps below and become one step closer to feeding with the Scale App.
- Click on the Inventory tab on the left side of Performance Beef.
- Click the Add button on the upper right corner.
- Enter the following information:
- Name of Ingredient, Cost per Unit (Ton), Percent Dry Matter
- Amount Remaining and Inventory Alert are optional fields
- Click the Save button on the upper right corner of the screen.
The Amount Remaining entered in the Add Feed screen will be displayed as the ingredient's first Current Total amount. The total amount of each ingredient delivered will subtract from the Current Total on a daily basis. Inventory Alert is listed below Amount Remaining. There, you can enter a minimum weight for your ingredient inventory. When that minimum weight is reached, Performance Beef will send an email to notify you. These added features will give you insight on how to manage your commodities more efficiently.
Setting Inventory Alerts:
- Click on the Inventory tab on the left side of Performance Beef.
- Click on the name of the ingredient you would like to set an alert for.
- In the white box next to the Inventory Alert, enter the weight at which you want to be alerted.
Note: The weight entered here should be the minimum amount at which you want to allow your inventory to reach until you are notified by email.
4. Click the Save button in the top left corner.
5. Click the Account Settings button on the upper right corner of your Performance Beef account.
6. Scroll down to the Email Settings section near the bottom.
7. Below the Feed Inventory box, enter the email address you want the alert sent to and select the time of day you want the email to be sent.
8. Click the green Add button on the left side of the screen. You can send alerts to as many email addresses as you wish by repeating steps 7 and 8.

- Click the Select Action drop-down box on the pop-up window.
- Click Add.

To manage feed ingredients:
- Click on the Inventory tab on the left side of Performance Beef.
- Click the red Manage button on the upper right corner. To manage other inventory, select Other from the dropdown menu on the upper left corner then click the red Manage button on the upper right corner.
- To archive an inventory item, click the - on the far right of the item. The item will drop to the Archived section.
- To unarchive an inventory item, click the + on the far right of the item. The item will move to the Active section.
- Click and drag the three dots on the left of active items to reorder them. The order they appear here is the order they appear when building rations or animal health protocols for use with the new health features expected this fall.
- Click the Save button on the upper right corner of the screen.
Managing your feed ingredients allows you to easily organize active ingredients as well as archiving other ingredients not in use for a later date. When ingredients are archived, they are hidden from your Inventory tab, however any data associated with them still exists and the ingredient can be unarchived at any time. You may only archive ingredients not currently in use and ingredients must be active to use them in a ration.
